Ulster University’s London and Birmingham branch campuses are delivered as a partnership between the University and QA Higher Education.
The branch campuses offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in business and computing subjects in professional learning environments. Our focus is to ensure graduates don’t just have a degree, but are highly employable and motivated individuals ready to function in a dynamic business environment.

The building is located between the hustle and bustle of London’s financial district and the buzz of the West End. It’s close to many cafes, bars and restaurants that are always popular with our students. Within the building, the library offers a quiet, reflective area for study. The student area provides a social space. With free WiFi and comfy sofas it is the perfect place for students to unwind. Just down the road at 7-15 Rosebery Avenue is our Student Hub. Split across 2 floors, it has been decked out with the 21st century learner in mind, equipped with modern technology and furnishings to give students a relaxed and informal space to study and socialise in. This location benefits from being right in the heart of Birmingham, a stone’s throw away from Birmingham New Street train station and the Bullring, one of the largest shopping centres in the UK. Within this intimate learning environment, students can easily focus on work with the resources available to them. We offer a quiet learning space in our library complete with a suite of computers to give students the tools to catch up on coursework. Between lectures, students are able to take advantage of the social spaces on offer and relax with friends inside the building, or heading out in to the city centre and its wealth of attractions.

The BSc Hons Accounting and Management creates the opportunity to progress your studies within growing areas of professional services.
This course provides a comprehensive grounding in theory and practice, and an excellent foundation to becoming a Qualified Accountant. It also provides an opportunity to secure exemptions from all of the major Professional Accountancy Bodies, whilst keeping many options open to successful graduates to pursue other careers involving Accounting, Business and Finance.
You will have the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and insight in the following areas:
- The concepts and theories of accounting within a broad economic, legal, social and professional environment
- The basic principles of auditing, investment, finance, taxation and their implications for individuals, organisations, markets, societies and other disciplines
- Alternative recognition rules and valuation bases
- The recording, preparation, presentation and analysis of financial information
- Business and financial information, technology and systems, and professional ethics
- Qualitative and quantitative analysis of accounting data

The overall aim of the course is to provide a broadly based education in computing systems that will produce graduates equipped to apply best practice in software engineering to the development of a wide range of information systems in organisations. This will enable graduates to embark on a professional career in computing with specific vocational skills relevant to local industry needs. The course will also help meet industry’s current shortage of high quality graduates in computing, particularly those with software development skills.
The BSc Hons in Computing Systems course recognises that software development skills need to be complemented with people and process related skills. Consequently, people, process and professional practice are important topics within modules of the course and allow the development of a broad base of skills appropriate to a software engineer.
The research landscape within computing in recent years has seen topics come to the fore on security and the role of artificial intelligence in society both of which feature in the programme.
This programme is also available as BSc Computing Systems (with Diploma in Professional Practice), which includes the option for a year in industry as part of a 4-year programme.

The intent of Work Based Learning (WBL) is significantly reflected in the programme learning outcomes. During year 3 of this programme, students will have the option to undertake a placement year module, Professional Practice – Computing. This module will provide an opportunity for students to develop knowledge and expertise that can be utilised in their final year studies, and in particular their final year project.
Students will also have opportunities to gain employability skills, reflect upon the applicability of their subject-specific skills, and gain insight into the graduate job market. Students who successfully complete the module are eligible for the award of Diploma in Professional Practice (DPP) or Diploma in Professional Practice International (DPPI) for international placements. Hence, the inclusion of placement year in this programme places strong emphasis on developing industry specific practical skills so that the learners are readily employable.
